Responsibilities Include:

  • Ensure pantry is inventoried and safely stocked 

  • Get/maintain current Food Handler Certification (paid for by Operation Liberty Hill)

  • Process incoming food donations

  • Assist with food rescue operations

  • Manage frozen meat inventory

  • Oversee repackaging of bulk items

  • Assist with food drives

  • Help to coordinate volunteer tasking

  • In all things, adhere to Central Texas Food Bank Guidelines, as well as federal, state and local food and health safety requirements

Other Info:

  • Reports to the Food Pantry Manager

  • Approximately 12-15 hours/week

  • Mondays & Wednesdays 8:00-1:00

       Thursdays 7:00-3:00​

  • $14/hour wage

  • English/Spanish speaker preferred

  • Prior food pantry, food handling, customer service work preferred

  • Obtain Food Handler Certification within 3 months of hire

  • Able to lift 30 lbs. several times each day

  • Frequent bending, stooping, standing and twisting

Karen, a retired nurse, and her daughter, Lynn, a retired teacher, have been volunteering at OLH for the last 4 years. Carson, their daughter and granddaughter, is now here on Saturdays. We love our wonderful volunteers!

We are so grateful to partner with Family Eldercare, which has helped our clients and their families stay a bit cooler year after year.

The reality of our elder neighbors, families, and medically fragile who seek fans:

  • 46% have felt sick from the heat

  • 87% don't have or can't afford A/C

  • 13% prefer fans due to health issues

  • 50% of households include someone living with a disability
