Proceeds from the Thrift Store buys food for the Pantry, helps to cover financial assistance given, and funds some of the Center's operational expenses. Some things we DO NOT accept: Old electronics Large quantities of books Anything broken or in disrepair Firearms of any sort Kitchenware with food or drink on or in it To ensure the safety of our volunteers, when donating bagged items, please use kitchen-size (13 gal.) bags or smaller. Apply here Give Financially Put your hard-earned dollars to work in support of those in need, whether it's to buy food for the Pantry, supplies to properly sort donations or to help others with financial assistance, every dollar is purposed with client needs and being a good steward in mind. Giving financially can happen in several ways: Online - as a one time gift or a periodic gift - click the button to the left; By mail - click In person - we'd love to give you a big hug of thanks; Estate planning - to leave a lasting legacy; and Tax planning - to reduce your taxable income and tax bill while helping our community here Give Financially While the work is vitally important, it's also fun to volunteer at OLH! As a volunteer-powered organization in all sections, Donations/Sorting, Food Pantry and Thrift Store, you can choose what shifts and section work best for your schedule. Proceeds from the Thrift Store buys food for the Pantry, helps to cover Financial Assistance given and fund some of the Center's operational expenses. Additionally, our Thrift Store assists Food Pantry clients with basic clothing and shoe needs. In fact, we gave away more than 43,000 articles of clothing and shoes in 2021 alone. ​ Apply to be a Volunteer Give Financially The Food Pantry depends on food donations that are supplemented by food purchased at the Central Texas Food Bank. Please carefully read the donation guidelines prior to giving. ​ Clients are eligible to visit our pantry once a week plus Free Food Share Fridays. A Spanish-speaking volunteer is scheduled on Tuesday mornings.
